H. Fenwick Huss was named Dean of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business in July 2004 after having served as associate dean of the College for the past six years. He was previously Director of the College's School of Accountancy. His professional career began with Family Dollar Stores in Charlotte. He served on the faculty at the University of Maryland and as a visiting professor of managerial accounting and control at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), and he holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Connecticut and a doctorate in accountancy from the University of Tennessee.
Dean Huss has been a prime mover in developing the College
's curriculum, hiring top faculty and helping to raise the profile and rankings of the College's programs. Under his leadership, the College has launched two new graduate programs: the Global Partners MBA (with Sorbonne University and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) and the Professional MBA program. In 2005, the College opened the Brookhaven Center, a new classroom facility in north Atlanta, and in 2006 opened a classroom facility for the PMBA program in Henry County (southside of Atlanta). The College will open its Executive Education Center in Buckhead (the heart of Atlanta's financial district) in early 2007.
Dean Huss has assisted universities in Russia, Ukraine and Sub-Saharan Africa in restructuring their business programs. He also directed Robinson
's USAID-funded development projects in South Africa, Ghana, and Egypt, and he has lectured extensively in the People's Republic of China over the past two decades on business information needs in transition economies. He currently serves on AACSB-International's Maintenance of Accreditation Committee and previously served on the Peace Through Commerce Task Force.
