The W. T. Beebe Institute of Personnel and Employment Relations was established in 1987 at the Robinson College of Business. During its history at Georgia State University, it has served as a multidisciplinary institute combining the insights and perspectives of several fields and has evolved to keep pace with contemporary business problems. A current multidisciplinary thematic emphasis is “People at Work.” The Georgia State University Panther PAW (People at Work) Research Interest Group includes faculty from different departments in the Robinson College of Business. These faculty conduct leading-edge, innovative research with practical impact and are committed to working across departmental and disciplinary lines to make advances in this area of business.

Faculty affiliated with the Beebe Institute conduct research, serve as instructors of courses within the Robinson College of Business, and work closely with the business community to bridge the worlds of academics and practice. There are several academic programs and courses throughout the Robinson College of Business that address, in some way, the “People at Work” theme. Student and alumni activities and achievements within various disciplines, especially human resource management and organizational behavior, reflect a vibrant community of students and professionals who value innovation, education, and practice in this area. There are points of intersection of the PAW theme throughout units of the Robinson College and in the business community.
