Dipankar Chakravarti is a Professor of Marketing and Vice-Dean for Programs at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. He has served on the marketing faculties at Florida, Arizona and Colorado and held visiting positions at Duke, the Indian School of Business and the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He holds a B.Sc. (Honours) in Physics from Presidency College, University of Calcutta, and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Industrial Administration from Carnegie-Mellon University. Dipankar's research on managerial and consumer decision making in marketing has appeared in major scholarly outlets such as JCP, JCR, JMR, JM, Marketing Science, Management Science and the Annual Review of Psychology. His work is widely cited and has received several recognitions, including the 1994 JCR best paper award. He is a Fellow and Past-President of SCP, Past-Director (Academic) of ACR, and a current or former member of the JCP, JCR, JMR, and JM editorial boards. He has also served as editor of JCP, a JCR policy board member and guest-editor for JM, Marketing Letters and Marketing Science. Dipankar has directed the marketing doctoral programs at Florida, Arizona and Colorado, served on over 40 doctoral dissertation committees, and chaired or co-chaired over a dozen doctoral dissertations. He has a long-standing association with the AMA-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium as a fellow in 1977, and as a consortium faculty member on more than a dozen occasions since 1985, including program co-chair in 1996.
