Ellen's interests include how marketing messages bias consumers' beliefs, attitudes and behavior. In particular, she is interested in how a marketing claim, whether in advertising, labeling or elsewhere, affects consumers' response to corporations or their products in areas such as environmental sustainability, food, pharmaceuticals and charitable donations. Her research has been published in such journals as the Journal of Advertising, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of Retailing and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
Dr. Ellen is immediate past president of the American Marketing Association's Academic Division and a member of the Editorial Review Boards of the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Policy, and International Review on Public and Non Profit Marketing.
