back to Consortium Fellows>> Irene Scopelliti Bocconi University, Italy
Irene Scopelliti is a third-year doctoral candidate at Bocconi University, Italy. She received her Master of Science in Economics and Management from University of Calabria (2003), and she worked at the same institution for three years as a junior researcher and lecturer before starting her Ph.D. During these years, she has taught courses in General Marketing, Retailing Management and Internet Marketing, and has supervised several Consumer Behavior Master theses.
Irene is currently involved in a variety of research projects in the domain of consumer behavior. Her dissertation focuses on consumer reactions to design visual features. One of her papers analyzes how exposure to exaggerate exemplars of a design (e.g., fashion showpieces from runway shows, or concept cars) influences consumer evaluation of moderate and marketable versions of the same design. A second paper looks at how the interplay of visual and conceptual complexity affects attitude toward brand logos across multiple exposures. Both papers are currently being finalized for submission to the Journal of Consumer Research.
Aside from her dissertation research, she is working on other projects related to the effect of visual features on the evaluation of design by a critical audience, to the effects of ego depletion on the choice of default options, and to the role of mastery motivation in consumer behavior. Her research has been presented at EMAC 2006, 2008 and 2009 conferences, at EACR 2007 conference, and at EMAC 2008 and 2009 Doctoral Colloquia, and she has papers under review at Journal of Business Research and Marketing Letters.
Irene is also interested in classical music (she holds a bachelor degree in music performance) and in musicology.
