Jayati Sinha is a third-year Ph.D. candidate in Marketing at the University of Iowa. She received her MS degree in GIS and Remote Sensing from the University of British Columbia, Canada and MBA from University of Toledo. Her research interests are in the realm of social influence and social networking on consumer behavior - individual as well as family consumption behavior. Her dissertation focuses on social contagion in attitudes. Although the prior research demonstrates that individuals are influenced by others when explicitly exposed to others' attitudes, her preliminary analysis suggests that it is more pervasive than believed, and they are influenced even by issues to which they were never explicitly exposed to group attitudes. She has presented his research at ACR, SCP, SJDM, and Haring Conferences.
