Values-Based Leadership: Lessons from the U.S. Marine Corps is a one-of-a-kind partnership with The Basic School that combines classroom and field training in values-based leadership, ethics and leadership decision-making. |

In a special program entitled The Trustworthy Leader, Amy Lyman, author and co-founder of the Great Place to Work© Institute, engaged the audience in an enriching dialogue, sharing her insight into how leaders make workplaces great and profitable. Her findings on how trustworthy leaders create and support thriving organizations were inspiring and instructive. The event was followed by a reception and book signing. |

Executive Breakfast Roundtable with Colonel Mellinger and Lieutenant Colonel Benfield, U.S. Marine Corps Col Dale Alfred and Lt Col Michael Samarov shared their perspectives in this unique program entitled What Now Lieutenant? Preparing Leaders for Moral Crisis. These well-decorated officers from The Basic School, Marine Corps Base Quantico, reflected on lessons of leadership and organizational ethics from one of the world’s most ethically intensive institutions and how these lessons can be applied to corporate leadership. |

In conjunction with the Georgia Tech NROTC, the center hosted a special program entitled Trust, Nerve and Restraint: The Indispensable Character of the Ethical Leader for students from neighboring universities. Featuring Col Dale Alford, Commanding Officer, and LtCol Michael Samarov, Commanding Officer, Instructor Battalion at the The Basic School, Marine Corps Base Quantico, the program focused on the important leadership lessons learned from many years as Marine officers. |

The center co-sponsored Traveling the Warrior’s Journey: Growing through the Invisible Wounds of War into a Mature Warrior Identity, a day-long workshop featuring Dr. Edward Tick, author of War and Soul. Participants learned what we can do in our families and in our communities to promote post traumatic growth and healing from the moral and psychological effects of war. |

Executive MBA students and Atlanta corporate leaders joined together to experience first-hand some key elements in the Marine Corps’ Values Based Leadership training through a center program entitled Values Based Leadership: Learning from the United States Marine Corps. Held at the Basic School at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia, the program familiarized attendees with the methodology for teaching ethics and developing a basic understanding of ethical challenges faced by Marine officers in combat and illustrated the challenges inherent in maintaining ethics in a combat environment. The training, the most advanced such training in the world, is used with newly commissioned Marine officers, and includes field operations, ethics classes and discussion groups. |
