Soon-Ho Kim specializes in leisure participant behaviors and formulating effective marketing strategies. More specifically, his research spans three areas: 1) understanding leisure participant behaviors for designing and implementing activities;
2) identification of motives and their interrelationships with media consumption patterns (televised sport watching, uses of internet for information gathering, reading about leisure in magazines, etc.); and
3) development of scales to measure service quality, perceived value, and destination loyalty.

Kim’s research has been published in the top hospitality and tourism journals. He has been engaged in funded research projects, such as assessing the recreational facilities and programs of the Suwannee River Water Management District.
