Georgia health care in limbo

Almost every expert – whether they support the Affordable Care Act or not – says hospitals can’t provide so much free care if they are to achieve the goal of improving quality and lowering costs. For some hospitals that means their survival is on the line, especially if Georgia does not go through with Medicaid expansion. "There are a lot of rural hospitals who thought they were going to have a much easier ticket for sustainability who are going to be more vulnerable to closure than they would have been," according to William Custer of the Center for Health Services Research.

The Institute of Health Administration provides quality graduate programs for education, research and career development in healthcare administration and management. The Robinson College of Business' part-time MBA programs are consistently top-ranked and the MHA is also nationally ranked. Our CAHME-accredited MBA/MHA and other degree programs produce qualified healthcare management professionals sought after by the healthcare industry.

Student Achievement and Graduate Success

The rigorous double degree programs (MBA/MHA and PMBA/MHA) enjoy a high level of student success. Among students enrolled in the most recent two years, 92 percent have graduated within the anticipated time frame. Moreover, the placement record for our master's graduates is excellent. Among graduates from these programs in the past 2 years, more than 80% were employment in a healthcare-related organization within three months of graduation with another 15% employed in other fields. Our alumni network with more than 1,300 members represents successful graduates contributing to almost every sector of today's fast-changing healthcare industry. We are committed to the highest quality in graduate education and research to improve the performance of healthcare systems and, ultimately, to create healthier communities.
