Despite its success, Emirates Air must continually overcome the negative perceptions about the Middle East and what a Middle East airline might be like. Said Steve Wheeler, VP of Marketing for Emirates Air, "We have been very successful in that area and have become, along with Signapore Air, one of the top choices among travelers in this part of the world."

Wheeler said that one way of achieving this objective was to "make the flight crew look like the United Nations. Many of our crew members can speak several languages. And they come from a variety of different countries."

In addition, Emirates Air is known for excellent routes, ontime service and plush accommodations—even for coach passengers. All coach seats come with amenities such as video screens and telephones.
