A New Middle East

Dear Alumni and Friends,

Egypt offers one example with its new cabinet and revised tax structure. Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is a modern city and Israel has established itself as a major technology hub.

But what is customer service? Why is it more than just a slogan? What are the processes and who are the people that make good customer service a reality?

In this State of Business we examine the many issues facing the Middle East. Features include an interview with veteran news anchor and correspondent Wolf Blitzer. Host of CNN’s "The Situation Room," Blitzer has covered the Middle East for almost three decades, including as editor of the Jerusalem Post.

In addition we look in depth at business in both Cairo and Dubai. Diaa Ghaly, an alum of the Robinson College-Cairo University joint MBA program, set up interviews for the magazine with business and political leaders in both those locations.

President Carter shares with us his view of the current political situation on the inside front cover, and Matthew Hodes from the Carter Center’s Conflict Resolution Program tops things off as our "To the Point" guest columnist.

You will also meet the deputy counsel general of the Israeli Consulate in Atlanta, learn more about Robinson’s current and past programs in the region, and read Rajeev Dhawan’s revised economic forecast in the wake of the recent hurricanes.

We hope you enjoy this edition of the State of Business and will let us know your comments.

Yours truly,

H. Fenwick Huss
Dean
