Hope For The Future
The hope for a new Egypt is reflected clearly in the eyes of Diaa Ghaly. A 2000 graduate of the Robinson College-Cairo University joint MBA program, Ghaly attended classes in Cairo and Atlanta and interned with the Atlanta offices of both AJC International and LHS Communications (now Sema-Schlumberger, USA).
On a recent visit to Cairo, Fenwick Huss, dean of the Robinson College, said, "Diaa represents the future of this country. He has knowledge, energy and enthusiasm, and a strong entrepreneurial bent. He is able to overcome what many perceive as roadblocks and move his company forward."

Ghaly is now the group executive officer and assistant to the vice president for finance with Wadi Holdings, a group of companies formed in 1984 to meet the demands in Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries for agricultural products. The company has four divisions: poultry integration, which specializes in raising, breeding and hatching day-old chicks; commodities trading; land reclamation, and a food-processing division that deals in the production of a wide variety of olive and gourmet food products.
According to Ramzi Nasrallah, Wadi vice president for finance, the company began by buying large portions of land in Egypt, irrigated that land for food processing, then went into packaging. "Eventually," said Nasrallah, "we became a regional manufacturer, three years ago a bulk exporter and now a brand exporter. We are into bio security and now are adding a glass-manufacturing project to our portfolio."
