The Ubiquitous AD
Advertisements are popping up everywhere. Now CBS is imprinting the network’s eye logo onto eggs. The big question is, why? Ken Bernhardt, marketing professor and Robinson’s assistant dean for corporate relations, told the Baltimore Sun, "Consumers have become increasingly cynical and increasingly willing to find ways to tune out adver tising through technology. The goal for many marketers is to get their product into the consideration set of alternatives that consumers evaluate when they make a purchase."

Keil, Phillips, and Sevcik Named Chairs
Mark Keil, Richard D. Phillips, and Galen R. Sevcik were named to head three of the College’s academic departments. Keil, Board of Advisors Professor, is the new chair for the Computer Information Systems Department (CIS); Richard D. Phillips, Bruce A. Palmer Professor, chairs the Risk Management and Insurance Department (RMI); and Galen Sevcik, associate professor, heads the School of Accountancy.

Mark Keil Keil has published extensively in the leading journals of the CIS discipline. In 2005 he received the University’s Distinguished Alumni Professor Award for his significant and noteworthy accomplishments in scholarship, teaching, and service.
Richard D. Phillips Phillips joined Robinson in 1994. He is a well-recognized leader in risk management research and has led curriculum development efforts in the RMI Department. Phillips is highly visible in academic organizations related to risk, such as the American Risk and Insurance Association and the Risk Theory Society.
Galen Sevcik Sevcik has accepted the position of director of the School of Accountancy, after serving as interim director of the school since August 2005. He joined Robinson in 1997. He is an accomplished researcher who has received a number of awards and honors for teaching.

One of the more heated issues in the country has been the debate over illegal immigration. Dr. Gillian Royes, instructor in business communications and an exper t in multicultural relations, spoke to the Seattle Times about rallies that were taking place around the country. "Now, the persona of the illegal immigrant is shifting in the American psyche to one that is not a group to be taken for granted anymore."
