ALUMNUS PLEDGES $5 MILLION FOR NEW PROFESSIONAL CENTER AUDITORIUM
Entrepreneur and Robinson College alumnus Carl R. Zwerner
has pledged $5 million to be used for the construction of an
auditorium, which will be part of the proposed Georgia State
Professional Center Complex.
The complex will be located in a two-block area adjacent to
Woodruff Park on a parcel of land the University Foundation is
in the process of purchasing from SunTrust Bank.
Zwerner says his hope is that the auditorium will not only
provide a state-of-the-art resource for students, faculty,
and visitors, but also that it will enhance the spirit that has
made Georgia State University so vibrant and so special as it
continues to grow in the future.
Zwerner’s contributions to the University are
substantial. In 1987 he endowed the Carl R.
Zwerner Chair in Family Owned Business. At
that time it was the largest gift given by an
individual to the University.
Zwerner, who resides in Coral Gables,
Florida, also has given countless hours of
service as a member of the Robinson
College Board of Advisors.
ROBINSON RANKED AMONG THE BEST BY U.S. NEWS
If we are known by the company that we keep, then Robinson
has nothing to worry about. For the 12th consecutive year, the
College has been ranked among the top 10 part-time MBA programs
in the nation by U.S. News. Included in the latest survey for
2008 are NYU, University of Chicago, Northwestern, UCLA,
and the University of Michigan. Robinson is ranked eighth (fourth
in the nation among public universities) on the list of top picks
by business school deans and MBA directors and is the only
business school in the Southeast to make the top 10.
In addition, the College’s Computer Information System
Department was ranked again for the fifth consecutive year
among the top 10 programs in its category (10th). The
Institute of Health Administration ranked among the top
programs for health-care management (34th).
