Graduate Business Association
The Graduate Business Association works throughout the year to plan graduate student events that enhance professional development, social interaction and academic interests. Recent months have included two events in particular that not only brought out a lot of students but also a couple of high-ranking alumni.

Brad Bradshaw, president of Nissan Canada and Robinson alumnus, spoke to more than 50 students about his 20-year career in the automotive industry and Nissan's recent turnaround in the marketplace. Bradshaw met with students at a reception co-hosted by Robinson's EMBA. After his presentation, students had an opportunity to ask questions and network. Bradshaw read about the GBA in the last issue of State of Business and thought it would be the ideal way to give back to his alma mater.

Just up the road from the Commerce Club at Phillips Arena, the GBA hosted approximately 100 students for "Hawks Night." In addition to a buffet dinner and the game, students got a firsthand look at the business of sports by Georgia State alum and Atlanta Spirit co-owner Mike Gearon. Atlanta Spirit is the parent organization of the Hawks, the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers and Phillips Arena.

Student News
Approximately 50 alums and current students in the Personal Financial Planning (PFP) program joined for the inaugural meeting of the PFP Student Alumni Club. Program director and associate professor of risk management and insurance Conrad Ciccotello and Michael Lipsey of Creative Financial served as speakers for the first meeting. Shawn Meade of Niagara Financial serves as club president.

Marketing Roundtable
Marketing officers share many of the same challenges, so why shouldn't they have a place to go where they can share ideas and network with each other. An article in the Wall Street Journal that talks about a new group, Marketing 50, also mentions Robinson's Marketing Roundtable as another group bringing marketing executives together. The article quotes marketing chair and Roundtable creator, Ken Bernhardt.
