Business Solutions for Africa

Lokko, too, is a graduate of a 2006 RBI seminar. “The program and vision of Ron Brown is excellent because empowerment is needed to push Africa forward,” she says. “Before attending the RBI training seminars, I had almost reached a point where I did not see my company going forward. It had almost stagnated, and I did not know what to do.” Now she has identified problems and formed solutions, which have included selling one of her stations and diversifying the operations. “I am on top of my business,” she says.

Creation of a $2 million endowment for the RBI has ensured that African business leaders like Munna and Lokko continue to get the training and skills they need to succeed. The RBI remains committed to broad-based sustainable development and increasing opportunities for trade between Africa and the United States and in the near future Europe and Asia, too. It is transforming the vision of Ron Brown – “to create opportunities for people of every race, social class, and nation” – into a practical legacy of implementation and tangible achievements across Africa.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

“As an entrepreneur, I have learned so much from the RBI, and I am only a cog in a big wheel. The more we all learn proper business planning, strategies, and financial interpretation, the better for the region.”
– Francis Maramwidze,
Zimbabwe, engineering and hardware managing director

“I now understand how to integrate all aspects of growing the business into a ‘brandable’ model. The other benefit is networking and establishing relationships in other countries through our RBI classmates, particularly for export purposes.”
– Sandral Turner,
South Africa, compliance and business processes CEO

“We are still in business! Without RBI training workshops, we certainly would not be here today. Through RBI, we have created contacts regionally and hope to be able to utilize these contacts to develop new markets.”
– Resina Mandisodza,
Zimbabwe, health and beauty director

“Thank you RBI for opening my mind to start a business. I spent almost six months looking for a job until I was introduced to the business world. I am now my own boss.”
– Peter Kambalame,
Malawi, trading food and beverages director
