PROFESSIONAL CENTER PROPOSED
NEW HOME FOR ROBINSON COLLEGE
Just before 2006 came to a close, President Carl Patton
announced that the Georgia State University Foundation
would purchase the SunTrust Bank Atlanta property adjacent
to the campus. The announcement included some exciting
news for the College that “pending Board of Regents
approval, the eastern portion of the site will be developed as
a professional education center for the University’s College
of Law and J. Mack Robinson College of Business. The center
would include buildings for law and business, a classroom
building, and an auditorium.”
For the College of Business the news about the Georgia State
Professional Center is a critical link that will help the College
reach its goal of becoming a premier business school with
worldwide reach.
The current 35 Broad Street location has served the College
well since 1993. With the new facility Robinson will gain
additional high-tech classroom spaces and faculty offices, the
aforementioned auditorium, and common area that can be
used by students, faculty, and members of the business community
to meet, learn, and share ideas. Donors are currently
being sought to help with the cost of construction. As soon as
funding is in place, a timetable for creation of the new facility
will be established.
