Nothing bespeaks leadership more than the Georgia State University Robinson College Business Hall of Fame. In 2004, the Hall of Fame celebrated its 20th anniversary with the induction of three of Georgia's most recognized business leaders.
James Cox Kennedy, chairman and chief executive officer of Cox Enterprises, Inc.; Paula G. Rosput, chairman, president and chief executive officer of AGL Resources, Inc.; and John F. Wieland, chairman and chief creative officer of John Wieland Homes, were honored at the annual Hall of Fame dinner held this year at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead.
These three highly respected community and business leaders bring to 52 the number of Atlanta legends inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Robinson Dean Sidney Harris eloquently summed up what the Hall of Fame is all about in his introductory comments to a special video presentation that began this year's induction ceremonies. Said the dean:
They are pioneers and explorers, finders and developers, entrepreneurs and administrators, mentors and innovators, but most of all they are extraordinary leaders... every one of them.
That's what they have in common. That's what sets them apart. And that is why they have found a place in the Georgia State University Business Hall of Fame.
Since 1985, the J. Mack Robinson College of Business has been recognizing leaders who have made a significant difference in business and in the quality of life in our community. All very different people, but each with that intangible, invaluable capacity to lead - it's a combination of vision, skill, tenacity and hard work.
It's an appetite for risk taking. It's a thirst for innovation, for new ideas and new frontiers to conquer. It's a refusal to be boxed in by history or geography or politics or defeatism.
The spirit and the drive to overcome the odds and succeed - that's what epitomizes inductees into the Business Hall of Fame.
