Todd Maurer Awarded Million Dollar Grant for Leadership Research

Professor Todd Maurer After receiving a $1.3 million grant from the U.S. Army Research Institute to study leadership development tools, Todd Maurer of the Department of Managerial Sciences will be stepping down as chair of the department to concentrate on this major research project. Pamela Barr has been named the department’s interim chair.

A psychologist by training, Professor Maurer’s research has focused on a variety of issues within organizational behavior and human resource management, including employee and leadership development, performance appraisal and feedback, aging workers, human resource testing and selection, job analysis, and legal concerns. Dr. Maurer is also the Director of the W.T. Beebe Institute of Personnel and Employment Relations and holds a doctorate from the University of Akron. This research grant coincides with Maurer’s previous research, focusing on how on-the-job challenges affect employee development.

A recipient of a multitude of academic awards, Dr. Maurer joined Robinson fall 2003 and was appointed chair of the managerial sciences department in 2005, during which time great strides have been made in the expansion and recognition of the department.

Dr. Barr has been a professor of managerial sciences since joining Robinson in 1997.
