6. National Studies of Housing Preferences of Older Adults

 Based on two large-scale surveys, this report contains information on the following topics: present, past and future housing preferences of older Americans; reasons older adults move from a single-family house into a retirement community, a nursing home, and an apartment/townhouse or condominium; reasons older Americans choose specific types of single family houses, apartments, townhomes or condominiums, retirement communities and nursing homes; preferences for information sources regarding new housing options.  The report includes analyses of responses by ten sociodemographic and lifestyle factors, and profiles potential users of various types of housing facilities based on sociodemographic factors, lifestyles and media-use habits. © 1997.  Length: 230 pages. $250.00
