Robinson Part-Time MBA Program Ranked 5th in the Nation -- 1st Among Public Universities According to U.S. News and World Report

April 5, 2002 (ATLANTA) - The J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University's part-time MBA program was ranked fifth nationally for the second consecutive year by U.S. News and World Report in its 2003 survey of the best graduate schools. This marks the seventh consecutive year that the College has been recognized by the magazine's annual survey. Among public universities, Robinson College of Business ranked first nationally and was the only university from the South in the top 10.

 "To be recognized in the top five for the second consecutive year is a testament to the tremendous quality of our program and faculty," said Dr. Sidney E. Harris, dean of the Robinson College of Business. "We are proud to be considered among the countries' leading business schools."

Additionally, Robinson College's Management Information Systems program (MIS), ranked 12th, International Business ranked 23rd in the nation, and Health Services Administration ranked 35th in the nation.

"We're pleased again with the number of our departments that have been recognized in U.S. News and World Report," said H. Fenwick Huss, associate dean. "We are especially proud to see the addition of our International Business program, an area that Robinson College has placed a lot of focus."

"Over the past few years we have continued to build the scope and variety of our International activities from study abroad programs to university partnerships," said Karen Loch, associate professor and director of the Institute of International Business. "We are gratified that our program is being recognized nationally."

The rankings are included in the magazine's annual special edition guidebook titled "Best Graduate Schools." The guidebook and the magazine (April 11 issue) containing excerpts from the guide will be available on newsstands Friday, April 5, and the expanded online rankings will be available on April 5 at www.usnews.com. The list is based on a reputational survey of deans in accredited business schools and corporate recruiters across the nation.

Approximately 1800 students are enrolled in Georgia State's MBA program. Of that figure about 63% are considered part-time. The College's part-time or flexible program allows working professionals to finish their degrees in five years.

3. University of Chicago
4. DePaul University (Kellstadt)
5. Georgia State University (Robinson)/ University of California, Los Angeles (Anderson)
7. University of California, Berkeley (Haas)/University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
9. University of Southern California (Marshall)
10. Pace University (Lubin)
