Intellectual Property focus of new Corporate Roundtable Sponsored by Georgia State's Robinson College of Business and College of Law

April 24, 2006 (Atlanta, GA) - Business Executives from top companies including BellSouth, Georgia Pacific, Home Depot, and Coca-Cola, joined faculty members from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business and the College of Law to launch the Georgia State University Corporate Intellectual Property (IP) Roundtable at a luncheon held at the University. The Roundtable is designed as a forum for the exchange of ideas, best practices, and information and networking opportunities exclusively for corporate executives within the IP community.

More than 50 executives and faculty members were welcomed by Robinson Dean H. Fenwick Huss and College of Law Dean Steven Kaminshine. Following an address by keynote speaker, Paula Tkac, economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the group discussed issues facing IP executives that they wish to focus on at future meetings including asset valuation, law firm benchmarking, international barriers, and selling the value of IP to senior management.

"Today's Roundtable brought together Atlanta's best IP minds in the corporate world with Atlanta's leading academics in the field. The potential for collaborative research on vexing issues such as asset valuation is boundless," said Perry Binder, assistant professor of legal studies at Robinson. Binder is co-founder of the Roundtable along with Scott Frank, president for BellSouth IP Management and Marketing Corporation; and Cliff Stanford, assistant general counsel for the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank.

Frank added, "The Corporate IP Roundtable at Georgia State is a unique opportunity and I look forward to sharing ideas and enhancing my knowledge with this esteemed group."

"This is only the beginning. We are planning at least three or four similar sessions each year. Today, we received a lot of great input on particular topics and speakers that we feel will add value to this network of select corporate IP stars," said Binder.
