Straub Named Editor in Chief of MIS Quarterly
Premier Journal Taps Georgia State Information Security Expert
May 24, 2007 - (ATLANTA, GA) - Detmar W. Straub, the J. Mack Robinson Distinguished Professor of Information Systems at Georgia State University and a recognized expert on information security, has been named to a three year term as editor in chief of MIS Quarterly, an academic journal consistently ranked as the number one journal in the information systems field. He assumes the position on January 1, 2008.
Straub is currently a senior editor for MIS Quarterly where he has also served as an associate editor, associate publisher, and a member of the MISQ Policy Committee. His background includes editorial service on numerous other IS and international business journals. He is the author of more than 140 articles appearing in MIS Quarterly and leading journals such as Management Science, Organizational Science, Information Systems Research, Journal of the AIS, and Journal of Management Information Systems. Straub has served the IS community in other capacities including those of vice President of publications for the Association for Information Systems, and program co-chair for both AMCIS (Americas Conference on Information Systems) and ICIS (International Conference on Information Systems).

One of the leading publishers of scholarly research in the world, MIS Quarterly contains research on IT-based services, the management of information technology resources, and the economics and use of information technology with managerial and organizational implications.
At the Robinson College, Straubfs research focuses on the management of information security and the legal and ethical implications of information in the workplace. He also conducts research on the impacts of technological innovation, network topologies, research methodologies, international studies, and electronic commerce. He teaches in Robinsonfs doctoral and MBA programs and consults with several Fortune 500 firms.
Straub joined Georgia State in 1992. He was previously a faculty member at the University of Minnesota.
In addition to an MBA from Gannon University, Straub has a PhD from Penn State and DBA degree from Indiana University.
