Strategy, Student Recruitment Highlight Robinson College Visit to Egypt

August 17, 2009 - (ATLANTA) - Open houses and strategy sessions were just some of the highlights of a recent visit to Egypt by Robinson Dean H. Fenwick Huss and Director of the Center for Business Development in Transitional Economies Bijan Fazlollahi. The visit was designed continue the process of assisting Cairo and Alexandria Universities in the development of programming to support the growing need for business leaders. The Alexandria and Cairo programs are funded by grants of $1.5 milion and $400,000 respectively, through Higher Education in Development (HED) for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The open houses were held to stimulate student recruitment at Cairo University, where Robinson partners with the school on an undergraduate business program, and at Alexandria University (AU), where the college is working to enhance the school's Executive MBA offering.

Huss and Fazlollahi also met with Dr. Hassam Kamel, president of Cairo University, and Wael Kortam, head of the undergraduate program at the school. They toured the new Cairo University library and discussed Cairo University's plans to develop a new stand-alone international campus.

The open houses in support of the Alexandria University Executive MBA were held both in Cairo, where a separate student cohort will be based, and also in Alexandria. Robinson has been working with Alexandria University to upgrade their EMBA and has helped expand the curriculum, develop a marketing plan and will provide faculty to teach certain courses when the program launches this fall. Huss and Fazlollahi were featured speakers at both Open Houses and also met with AU representatives including Dean Dr. Said Ossman and EMBA Director Dr. Ismail Gomaa.
