March 19, 2009 - (ATLANTA) - Beginning in August 2009, the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University will offer a joint degree: a Professional MBA/Master of Health Administration (PMBA/MHA) at the university's new Peachtree-Dunwoody Center.
Like Robinson's Professional MBA, which is offered at GSU's Alpharetta, Downtown, Buckhead, Henry County and Peachtree-Dunwoody locations, the PMBA/MHA is a lockstep cohort program that allows working professionals to earn their degree while continuing to work full-time. While the PMBA is completed in six semesters, the dual degree PMBA/MHA is seven semesters in duration.
"We designed Robinson's new PMBA/MHA program for professionals who are already in healthcare as well as for those who wish to work in this growing field," said Jane Mutchler, Associate Dean for Academic Planning & Programs. Noting that expenditures on healthcare are approaching 17% of the gross domestic product, Mutchler added that Robinson has seen steady demand for graduates who possess a combination of business acumen and in-depth, health sector expertise for career paths such as:
- Management of Health Organizations
- Health Care Consulting
- Health Informatics
- Health Care, Finance and Accounting
|
- Physician Practice Management
- Health Care Marketing
- Managed Care
- Human Resources Management in Health Care
| Robinson's part-time MBA program is ranked fifth in the nation by U.S. News and World Report for 2009 and has been in the top 10 for 13 consecutive years. The curriculum for the dual degree program was developed in conjunction with Robinson's nationally recognized Institute of Health Administration and is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).
Applicants will be accepted to the PMBA/MHA program on a rolling basis, and class size will be limited. Classes will meet every Monday evening and every other Wednesday evening.
