Denish Shah, Assistant Director of Center for Excellence in Brand and Customer Management, Recognized for Dissertation Excellence in Three Competitions
Eighth Consecutive Doctoral Student Mentored by Center Director V. Kumar to Win Prestigious Dissertation Awards

| Denish Shah | June 11, 2009 - (ATLANTA) - Denish Shah, assistant professor of marketing and assistant director of the Center for Excellence in Brand and Customer Management at Georgia State's Robinson College of Business, has been recognized for doctoral dissertation excellence in three competitions.
Shah, whose dissertation focuses on developing a strategic framework for managing marketing productivity in retail and business markets, has been awarded:
- First place, Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Competition, Institute for the Study of Business Markets, Penn State's Smeal College of Business
- First place, Levy and Weitz Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Competition, American Marketing Association Retailing Special Interest Group and University of Florida's Miller Center for Retailing Education and Research
- First runner-up, Mary Kay Doctoral Dissertation Competition, Academy of Marketing Science
Shah, who has more than eight years of industry experience working with multinational corporations, focuses his research on issues that link marketing to firm performance. His work has been published in the Journal of Marketing, Marketing Research, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Interactive Marketing and Journal of Service Research.
Shah earned his Ph.D. under V. Kumar, executive director of the Center for Excellence in Brand and Customer Management, at the University of Connecticut and is Kumar's eighth consecutive doctoral student to be recognized for dissertation excellence.
Both men are participating in this week's 2009 American Marketing Association Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium. Kumar is a consortium co-chair, along with Ken Bernhardt and Naveen Donthu, both of whom are in Robinson College's Department of Marketing. Shah is part of the consortium faculty.
