Stephen Young is currently a lecturer of marketing and sales at Georgia State University in Atlanta. He teaches a number of courses including professional selling, key account sales and sales management as well as the cornerstone marketing class for MBA students and undergraduates.

Young is the founding director of the Sales Executive RoundTable, an invitation-only organization that brings together the top sales officers from major firms located in the Atlanta area in order to facilitate professional development by providing programming designed to enhance member effectiveness in achieving organizational goals. Meetings are led by preeminent experts in sales or conducted as roundtable discussions on topics selected by members.

Young is the Coach of the GSU Sales team and advises the Sales Club.

Young retired in 2009 as the senior vice president of corporate and government markets for Verizon Business and was responsible for $10 billion in revenue supported by more than 3,500 employees across the United States. This organization sells Verizon Business’ complete product suite with emphasis on network, managed services, data center, IP, security services and integration solutions.

Young has served the Atlanta community in many arenas. He has received the prestigious Outstanding Atlanta award for service leadership from former Mayor Andrew Young. Subsequently, he served as president of Outstanding Atlanta. He is a 1987 alumnus of Leadership Atlanta. Currently Steve serves on the board of Junior Achievement of Georgia, is a founding director of the Sales Management Association of Atlanta and is an elder at Central Presbyterian Church, where he co-chaired a successful capital campaign in 2012.

Young holds an MBA from Georgia State University and is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. He has attended post graduate studies at the Sloan School of MIT, Columbia University and the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia.

He is married and has two adult children.
