Symantec Anti-Virus

Please disregard all warnings about viruses that come from any source other than RCB Systems Support.  Following their advice may harm your workstation.

In the Robinson College of Business, RCBSS is responsible for safeguarding your computer from viruses.  Symantec Anti-Virus software is installed on each and every workstation that we deploy. It automatically updates the virus definitions and scans files upon opening, but manual scans can also be done at any time. The operating system of your workstation has also been configured for security against outside access.

E-Mail is protected by a filter on the GroupWise server that quarantines any attachments that have a virus.  You may have seen an e-mail saying that the attachment was quarantined because of a virus.

The university encourages faculty, staff and students to use Symantec Anti-Virus on their workstations at home also.   RCBSS can lend you a CD with Symantec Anti-Virus software to load on your home PC.  Please refer to http://nav.gsu.edu for documentation.   The home version can also be downloaded from this site, although this is not recommended if you are using a dial-up modem.

Feel free to check with us (404-413-7100, or rcbhelp@gsu.edu) concerning any questions you have about viruses on your computer.
