Beckerconviser CPA Review Scholarship
Each year, a worthy accounting student is awarded a scholarship to the BeckerConviser CPA Review course based on his or her academic achievement to assist in preparation for the CPA examination required for certification.

Annually, in honor of Dr. Kathryn C. Each year, in honor of Dr. Gary Winkle, a student in the Masters of Professional Accountancy program with high scholastic achievement receives a cash award.

Michael Jay Jedel Award In Human Resource Management
This scholarship is named in honor of Michael Jay Jedel, a former associate dean of the Robinson College of Business and director of the W. T. Beebe Institute of Personnel and Employment Relations.  It is presented annually to an M.S. or M.B.A. student who exhibits high standards of academic achievement, strong commitment to the human resources field, and outstanding leadership potential.

William P. Key Scholarship
Named in honor of a distinguished Atlanta human resource professional, Georgia State University graduate, and Executive in Residence at the Beebe Institute, and awarded for outstanding performance in a masters’ level human resource management degree program.

William T. Rutherford Scholarship
Awarded to the students in any graduate level human resource management programs who best exemplify the high achievement and zest for learning which Professor Rutherford so valued.

Atlanta Engineering Personnel Association
Awarded to a master’s level student in human resource management, this scholarship is presented to the student with a high GPA, significant work experience in human resources and a commitment to the human resources field.  It is presented by the Atlanta Engineering Personnel Association.

Computer Information Systems

The Society for Information Management Scholarship
The Society for Information Management awards one scholarship to a Junior or Senior undergraduate student in the CIS based on outstanding academic performance. The recipient of this award receives a cash award and a certificate.

Douglas Huffman

William W. Cotterman Outstanding Student Award
Each year, the computer information systems department honors the student in the MS-CIS program with the most outstanding academic record. Called the William W. Cotterman Award, it is named for the first chairman of the CIS department at Georgia State University. Winners of this award receive a cash award and their names are engraved on a plaque that hangs in the lobby of the CIS department.

James P. Rozelle Outstanding Programmer Award
Each year, the computer information systems department honors the student in the CIS program with the most outstanding academic record in the programming courses. Called the James P. Rozelle Outstanding Programmer award, it is named for a former faculty member of the CIS department at Georgia State University. Winners of this award receive a cash award and their names are engraved on a plaque that hangs in the lobby of the CIS department.

Institute of Health Administration

R. C. Williams, M.D., Honor Award
The R. C. Williams, M.D., Honor Award was established to honor the late Dr. Williams, who founded the Hospital Administration program at GSU in 1952.  The award is given to the MBA/MHA student demonstrating outstanding leadership in the profession through university, community and work-related endeavors.

Everett A. Johnson Scholarship
The Everett A. Johnston Scholarship was established to honor Dr. Johnson, a long-time leader in health administration, upon his retirement as Institute Director in 1998. The scholarship is awarded to an MBA/MHA student for academic excellence.

R. J. Knobel Scholarship
This scholarship was established upon Dr. Roland “Knob” Knobel’s retirement in 1985, after teaching in the Institute since 1970.  Academic performance and financial need are considered in making these two awards, one to a first-year student and one to a second-year student in the MBA/MHA program.

Max G. Holland Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is presented annually to the student in the MBA/MHA program with the highest grade-point average.  The scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Max Holland, who was on the faculty of the Institute from 1976 to 1989.

H. Talmage Dobbs, Jr. Outstanding Finance Student Award
This award is named after Mr. H. Talmage Dobbs, Jr., past chairman of the board of Life of Georgia and a Georgia State alum.  The award is presented to the outstanding undergraduate finance major over the past year.  The criteria used to determine the recipients include classroom performance and recommendations from past instructors.

This award is given to an undergraduate finance major in honor of Jack Dunn, former Commissioner of Banking and Finance for the State of Georgia.  The recipient of this award is chosen based on the student’s academic record.

Endowed in memory of Evelyn S. Bowyer, alumna and longtime Georgia State employee, by family, friends and colleagues, this award is given annually to a woman majoring in Finance.

A scholarship underwritten by the Staubach Company and Holder Properties.  The award includes a one-year honorary membership in CREW Atlanta.  The recipient is selected based on academic achievement, leadership skills, and potential for success in a real estate career.

Georgia CCIM Chapter Scholarship
Funded by the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute, the scholarship is given annually to one undergraduate real estate major planning a career in commercial real estate.  In addition to the cash award, the recipient receives complimentary enrollment in the first course toward receiving the CCIM designation.  The selection criteria include academic achievement, extracurricular activities, communication skills, and professional commitment.

This scholarship is awarded to a real estate major based on sincere interest in the property management field, financial need, and academic performance.

This scholarship established by the Atlanta Board of Realtors is in honor of Mr. Ed A. Isakson, past president of the Atlanta Board of Realtors. One or more scholarships will be provided each year for outstanding students majoring in real estate. The criteria for selection are need, scholastic achievement, and expression of a sincere interest in a professional career in real estate.

This scholarship is presented in memory of a prominent Atlanta-area real estate family to recognize superior academic achievement and potential. It may be awarded to either a graduate or an undergraduate student.

Mrs. Tommie Jackson Scholarship
This scholarship, established by Realtors, honors Mrs. Tommie Jackson, executive vice president of the Atlanta Board of Realtors. The earnings from this fund are to be used to provide one or more scholarships each year for outstanding students majoring in real estate. The criteria for selection are scholarship, achievement, and an expression of a sincere interest in a professional career in real estate.

Funded by an endowment established by John H. Cowart, Sr. (John H. Cowart Properties, Inc.), is given annually to one or more real estate graduate or undergraduate students to pursue promising research under the direction of faculty in the Department of Real Estate. Real Estate Investment Advisory Council (REIAC) Scholarship
Funded by the Southeast Region of REIAC, these scholarships are given to graduate students majoring in real estate.  Selection is based on academic achievement, career potential, and financial need.  In addition to a cash award, recipients are invited to attend quarterly REIAC meetings.

2004 RMI Alumni Club Undergraduate Student of the Year Award
This annual award—sponsored by the RMI Alumni Club—recognizes a senior-level student majoring in risk management and insurance who has demonstrated academic excellence in coursework related to managing risk.

This annual award recognizes a graduating personal financial planning student who has demonstrated academic excellence in graduate-level coursework and whose efforts have enhanced the quality of education for other students in the personal financial planning program.

This annual award recognizes a graduating risk management and insurance student who has demonstrated academic excellence in graduate-level coursework and whose efforts have enhanced the quality of education for other students in the risk management and insurance program.

2004 Robert W. Batten Actuarial Science Award
Robert W. Batten served as professor and director of Georgia State’s Actuarial Science Program for 25 years.  This award is presented annually to an actuarial science student in recognition of outstanding performance in actuarial mathematics.

2004 Floyd S. Harper Award
The late Dr. Floyd S. Harper joined Georgia State’s faculty in 1958 and was instrumental in the creation of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance’s Actuarial Science Program.  This award is presented annually to a graduating senior in actuarial science in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement and character—qualities that Dr. Harper strove to develop in his students.

2004 Eli A. Zubay Actuarial Science Award
The late Dr. Eli A. Zubay co-founded Georgia State University’s Actuarial Science Program in 1958.  This award is presented annually to the undergraduate actuarial science major with the highest overall grade-point average, and recognizes academic excellence.  Recipients must have accumulated at least 60, but no more than 90 semester credit hours, and must have completed at least 12 semester credit hours of actuarial science coursework with no grade lower than a “B.”

The James S. Kemper Foundation established this fund in honor of James Scott Kemper—founder of the Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Company and the related Kemper companies—and his commitment to the advancement of higher education.  The $25,000 annual fellowship benefits an African-American or Hispanic-American doctoral student engaged in research on risk and its management, and who wishes to pursue academic career upon graduation.

This $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in risk management and insurance or personal financial planning.  The scholarship honors James W. This annual scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate RCB student majoring in risk management and who exhibits leadership and outstanding scholarship.

C. V. Starr Scholarship
Endowed by the Starr Foundation, this fund provides several annual scholarships of up to $4,000 to students majoring in actuarial science or any of the risk management programs.  Priority is given to graduate students, but undergraduate students who have completed at least two years of coursework and who have outstanding potential are considered.  The scholarship may be held for two years.
