Dustin Holland, MBA ’04, has always loved books. Growing up, every few years, his family moved to a new city, which meant getting a new library card, something he always looked forward to. In high school, he spent his lunch in the library so he could read. As he got older he turned to business, but never forgot his first love of books. After spending some time traveling abroad, Holland decided the time was right to commit to growing his career in management. Robinson presented the perfect option for an international experience and real world business connections.
While interning during the final year of his MBA program, he had the opportunity to get involved with an inspiring start up called Campus Community Outreach, the group that eventually became Better World Books. After graduating, he put his faith in this promising social enterprise and joined the team to develop the library program. The company grew into Better World Books, one of the leading online booksellers in the world, having sold nearly 75 million books, while giving back to literacy and educational causes across five continents.
As the vice president of global sales and marketing, Holland works with many of Better World Book’s suppliers, libraries and customers. He’s thrilled by the company’s prospects to continue to grow, while making a difference in the world. “I’ve always been a builder. We’ve built the company from the ground up, and to be part of that growth drives me. Our mission, helping people, is the cherry on top. I am thankful for my experience at Robinson, as it opened doors that I never imagined.”
In his position with Better World Books he’s able to combine his passion for business, travel and books into a happily ever after career.
