Dien Nguyen is a metro-Atlanta local. Growing up in Norcross, he attended Meadowcreek High School and graduated in 2005. He enlisted and went on to graduate from the United States Naval Academy (USNA) with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics. For the next 8 years, Dien would serve in various roles within the Navy, from Stuttgart, Germany to Yokosuka, Japan. However, Dien prepared to return to civilian life by obtaining his Georgia Real Estate license when serving in Japan 2017-2019.
He resigned his commission honorably this past May and immediately decided to pursue a degree in the Master of Science in Real Estate program at Robinson College of Business.
When asked why he chose Robinson, he shared, “Georgia State offers one of the top MSCRE programs in the country, and on top of that, my family is here. I talked with Dr. Wiley for over a year before committing! While I already have my residential license, I am excited to broaden my expertise in the commercial market.”
Robinson has military roots, and the school continues to attract veterans looking to enter the civilian workforce.
While in the military, Dien acquired several key and unique skills, but ultimately it all came down to prioritization and management. “Stepping into the program, I feel well-equipped from a stress/project management standpoint. I am able to efficiently manage my days and the tasks set before me because of my breadth of Naval experience and the particular perspective military life brings.”
Dien is especially interested in the redevelopment of commercial properties with BRIXMOR, but he is open to branching into different aspects of real estate based on his learning in the MSCRE program.
