As a military child, Gaby Moss moved 12 times before eventually settling in Atlanta, Georgia. Her mom is an active duty Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, and her dad, also an Army veteran, launched his own screen-printing business while taking care of her and her brothers. Having lived in Georgia longer than anywhere else, Atlanta quickly became home for Gaby.
She attended GSU from 2012-2015 and received her bachelors while playing for (and being captain of) the GSU Women’s Basketball team. After three seasons of basketball and a fast-tracked undergraduate education, Gaby decided to move out west to live with her brother in Los Angeles. Together, they worked with social media campaigns, influencers, and even hosted a radio show (Anything Goes) for a brief stint! Basketball, however, drew her back East.
In 2016, Savannah State offered Gaby a full scholarship to play her final year of eligibility and earn her MBA. Having missed the game, she jumped on the opportunity to head back to Georgia. Upon graduation, she received a year-long internship with the marketing department at Gulfstream Aerospace where her interest in marketing was piqued.
After the internship concluded, Gaby worked part-time at CarMax and helped with her dad’s business on the side. “As my interest in marketing grew, I began to realize the opportunities—especially for small business owners—that come from effective marketing. Effective marketing can help my dad do his job better, work less, and make more money. Seeing that really solidified my desire to go back to school for my master’s degree in Marketing.”
When asked why she chose Robinson, Lauren was quick to respond: “Atlanta is home. Atlanta is where my teammates are, where I’m comfortable, and to add to all that, Robinson offers one of the best Marketing programs in the country. Plus, there are numerous benefits that come with the stellar education. I’ve attended three networking events and it’s only the first week of school! Atlanta is diverse and allows me to explore opportunities that will prepare me for what I want to do in the future: help small businesses grow. Atlanta is the ideal place for small businesses and for me.”
Gaby plans to combine Marketing strategy and business consulting upon graduating from the Robinson MSMK program. She hopes to gain experience in an agency and plans to open her own small business consulting firm in a couple of years.
“Small businesses often don’t have the manpower or resources to have their own internal marketing team, and I am passionate about helping small businesses—like my dad’s, grow.”
