Peter Zhang was appointed Chair of the Department of Managerial Sciences, effective July 1, 2019.
Dr. Zhang is a well-regarded scholar, known for applying artificial neural networks to business problems across a variety of application areas. He has produced almost 100 scholarly articles, refereed conference proceedings, and book chapters in edited volumes over his career. His scholarly works have appeared in top tier computer science, operations management, and decision science journals, and won several Best Paper Awards. According to Google Scholar, Dr. Zhang has amassed over 12,000 citations. The Robinson College has previously recognized his research accomplishments, presenting him its college-wide award for excellence in research on three separate occasions.
Dr. Zhang’s commitment to the profession is also evident in his teaching and service accomplishments. He has won multiple departmental teaching awards for his classroom performance that includes a portfolio of undergraduate and graduate course work. He was recently presented Top Professor Award by students in the M.S. in Managerial Sciences Cohort (2019). Dr. Zhang won the college’s Faculty Recognition Award for Distinguished Contributions in Service in 2017. He earned that award for his many contributions to the college that he has made over the years including serving on several important inter-departmental faculty recruiting committees, serving on the college’s Research Program Committee, Faculty Affairs Committee, and Promotion & Tenure Committee. For the past year, Dr. Zhang chaired the college’s Promotion & Tenure Committee.
Dr. Zhang is looking forward to working with the department faculty and staff to advance the department’s mission and move the department forward.
