Marlin Benjamin completed his undergraduate degree in Accounting at Claflin University in South Carolina in May of 2019. Having grown up in Dekalb, Marlin was keen to return home. He started working as a Business Analyst on the Merchandising Execution Team (MET) for Home Depot corporate in Atlanta this past June.
“I knew I wanted to continue with my MBA, still being in the school mindset, and I had friends that spoke very highly of Georgia State University. The ‘flex’ part of the program was key for me, as I work full-time for Home Depot.”
Marlin is pursuing the Robinson Flex MBA with an accounting focus, and he looks forward to sitting for the CPA exam when he completes his graduate degree. He is excited to dive deeper in the program and hopes to complete the degree in 2 years. As he adjusts to the work/class balance, he shared that “Professors are very intuitive and know how to keep things interesting. That is vital for me after a long day of work. They are also flexible! I travel as part of my job, and they take no issue as long as I get my work done.”
When asked why Marlin is pursuing an MBA, he shared, “I interned with Home Depot my Senior year of undergrad and fell in love with the culture. My MBA degree will help provide me with the experience I need to grow with this company. I am meeting classmates who are leaders, and they inspire me to keep pushing, growing, to be the best I can be.”
