Ana Contreras-Rodriguez, M.S. in Information Systems
senior financial examiner, Georgia Department of Banking and Finance
Why did you choose Robinson for your graduate education?
I chose Robinson because of the great experience I had during my undergraduate years. I know I will be challenged and guided by some of the best professors. Plus, the diversity the university offers is unparalleled.
How will the degree propel your career goals?
I decided to concentrate in the area of cybersecurity because Georgia is a big player in the fintech industry; and in my job, I work with a lot of those companies. Learning more about the safeguarding of data will prepare me to be an even better examiner.
What unique background and perspectives will you bring to classroom discussions?
During my time at the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, I have seen the industry develop and grow tremendously. As a regulator, I review many processes and procedures for fintech companies, learning why and how these systems are put into place.
What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?
I took a risk by continuing my education after six years working in the field. My parents migrated from Mexico so I could have opportunities like this, and that motivates me to take risks and get out of my comfort zone.
