Department of Computer Information Systems
The Department of Computer Information Systems offers students an opportunity to gain work experience in an industry-related area while also earning course credit.
Internships can be full-time or part-time, and paid or unpaid.
The internship class credit option is designed to complement a student’s formal education with practical and meaningful IT-related work experience.
Internship course registration occurs during normal class registration periods, so be sure to plan ahead. In other words, if you want to start an internship in the spring, find the job during fall semester. The department offers online courses during the summer semester to help students pursue internship opportunities outside Atlanta.
Students who obtain an internship for course credit must sign up for CIS 4970 – Field Study in Computer Information Systems, and can use it to replace the CIS 4980 – System Development Projects capstone course. Currently enrolled undergraduate students are eligible to obtain internships if they are in good academic standing and have completed the required 3000-level courses as part of their degree.
Graduate students who obtain an internship for course credit must sign up for CIS 8391 – Field Study in Computer Information Systems.
If you are interested in hiring a computer information systems student for an internship, contact Shuguang Hong at firstname.lastname@example.org or 404-413-7381.
