Dr. Felipe Castrillon
Dr. Felipe Castrillon completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2015. His dissertation analyzed macroscopic urban traffic systems using traffic flow models and agent-based simulation. After his Ph.D., Felipe worked at Home Depot as a data scientist and software engineer developing recommendation algorithms for the online store. His responsibilities included algorithm ideation and design as well as web service implementation. Some of his projects included category recommendations and Learning-to-Rank for autocorrect systems. Currently, Felipe is the co-owner of Kevy, an e-mail marketing solution which leverages machine learning to provide personalization solutions.
Dr. Klimka Szwaykowska Kasraie
Dr. Klimka Szwaykowska Kasraie completed her BS in Physics at California Institute of Technology in 2007 and received her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2013, with a minor in Math. Her thesis focused on uncertainty in model-based navigation of autonomous underwater vehicles. From there, she worked as a postdoc research fellow at the US Naval Research Lab, studying the effects of noise and delay on collective motions of swarms of autonomous vehicles. Her interest in robotics and autonomous systems eventually led her to machine learning and AI. She is currently working as a Data Scientist at RentPath, a position she has held since 2016. Her projects have included building models to forecast customer churn, helping to build an improved recommendation engine on the RentPath websites and email marketing campaigns, and improving sorting of listings on the website. Her interests include deep learning, time series forecasting, and complex systems analysis.
Dr. Péter Molnár
Dr. Péter Molnár received his doctoral degree in theoretical physics from the University of Stuttgart, Germany and a master’s degree in physics from the Augusta Georgia University, Göttingen, Germany. As Senior Data Scientist at Amazon he is leading data science efforts for the subsidiary Fabric.com in fulfillment center operations, supply chain, marketing, and customer experience. His academic research in social agent systems, collaborative systems, and distributed sensor-fusion has received funding from federal and state agencies. He taught courses in artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, and computer vision on the graduate and undergraduate level.
Dr. Jonathan Zhang
Dr. Zhang is senior data scientist in Decision Analytics group at Experian. He is responsible for developing generic risk scoring model, improving modeling methodology, and assessing alternative data sources. During his first tenure with Experian, he led the data science function within Marketing Analytics, a center of excellence in Consumer Insights & Targeting. The projects he steered cover areas of response models, multi-dimensional segmentation, digital targeting and audience extension solutions, digital ad measurement, touch path analysis, and multi-channel response attribution. Dr. Zhang also worked as a data scientist in the ecommerce division at The Home Depot and developed personalized solutions that enhance online and store shopping experiences. In his first industry position at at&t labs, he developed win-back information systems, managed analytical support for True-Rewards loyalty program, and led promotion tracking and targeted marketing programs.
As an academic, Dr. Zhang taught undergraduate and graduate level classes in management science, business statistics, and operations management courses at Rutgers, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Georgia Southern. His research interests span areas of data modeling, business forecasting, supply chain inventory management, and environmental economics. His publications have appeared in MSOM (Manufacturing and Services Operations Management), POM (Product and Operations Management), Naval Research Logistics, European Journal of Operations Research, among others.
