ATLANTA−Denish Shah, Barbara and Elmer Sunday Professor of Marketing, has received the 2018 Varadarajan Award for Early Career Contributions to Marketing Strategy Research from the American Marketing Association (AMA) Marketing Strategy Special Interest Group.
In her home country of Colombia, Carolina Salazar studied industrial engineering and landed a marketing analyst position at a chemical company. A few years later, she realized she needed a formal marketing education in order to reach her full potential in the field. She moved to Atlanta to pursue a Master of Science in Marketing from the Robinson College of Business and serve as a graduate research assistant for Associate Professor Denish Shah.

For the fourth year, V. Kumar of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University topped both the Author Productivity in the Premier AMA Journals (Journal of Marketing and Journal of Marketing Research) and the Author Productivity in the Premier Marketing Journals (Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, and Marketing Science).
Here are some memorable moments from the graduation party of the Class of 2017 hosted by the MS in Marketing program. The highlights of the event included best student awards, best professor awards, and a surprise musical performed by the MS in Marketing students for the faculty.
Despite being known as the “City in the Forest,” a 2001 study by American Forests revealed that the average tree cover in Atlanta declined 16 percent from 1974 to 1996. In 1985, Trees Atlanta was founded to combat this tree canopy decline, focusing its initial efforts on bringing shade back to downtown Atlanta.
