WomenLead equips female students to excel in school, enter the workforce with developed skills and find their place in leadership positions.
Through discussion panels and company site visits, students can learn what executive leadership entails and how the panel participants, including Georgia State alums, got to their position. In engagement interviews, students talk with women one-on-one and discuss the arc of their careers; what lessons they learned along the way; and other information about specific fields, industries and jobs.
The class culminates with each student completing a Personal Leadership Strategy final project, which presents strategies in poster format to be evaluated by faculty and community leaders.
Since its spring 2015 inception, more than 700 students have participated in the program, ensuring that the future for female business leaders is bright.
The cornerstone of the WomenLead program is our course portfolio — we offer classes in business, policy and politics, science, and entrepreneurship and innovation. Students across all of Georgia State’s campuses are eligible to apply.
The WomenLead initiative offers four courses:
- WomenLead in Business
- WomenLead in Policy and Politics
- WomenLead in Science
- WomenLead in Entrepreneurship and Innovation
All of the courses are electives worth three credits that can be applied toward honors credit as well.
