What difference does Road to Robinson make?
For many graduate students at the Robinson College of Business, a critical step in their decision process was attending a Road to Robinson event. By talking to faculty, current students and alumni from their program of interest, they got all their questions answered. Plus, they met the admissions staff who guided them through the application and enrollment process as well as the career coaches who have supported them throughout their entire academy journey.
We hope you’ll sign up for the next Road to Robinson Graduate Info Session. You’ll get a feel for what makes Robinson special—the people who truly care about helping you reach your professional goals.
"Through a face-to-face interaction with the M.S. in Information Systems program director, Dr. Bala Ramesh, I realized the people at Robinson are invested in students’ success. For example, I discovered Robinson’s Career Advancement Center would support me in securing an internship, which is a required component of the degree. My expectations for receiving assistance in that process were blown away. My career coach met with me frequently, reviewed my resume and aided me in arranging job interviews. I’m interning with Turner Broadcasting as a machine learning developer this summer!
I also found out boot camps are regularly offered throughout the year. I recently completed a cloud computing boot camp and will tackle R and Tableau next. I can’t wait to keep expanding my skill set."

"The Road to Robinson event I attended removed my doubt over applying to the M.S. in Quantitative Risk Analysis & Management program. After speaking with Erica Miller, a project coordinator from the college, I better understood the classes I would need to take, the salary outlook, and the risk and return of pursuing the degree.
I also talked to Dr. Ajay Subramanian, who ended up instructing one of my favorite courses in interest rate models. He made it clear the program wouldn’t be easy, but the rewards would be greater than the challenges I would face. Dr. Subramanian was right: the projects were challenging but super helpful. For example, in Dr. Haci Akcin’s class, I learned to use SAS programming to pinpoint risks financial institutions as well as bank customers might face.
The sacrifices I made were worth it. Immediately after graduation, I began a credit and collateral internship at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta."

"At Road to Robinson, I spoke with Master of International Business faculty member Dr. Penny Prime, who gave me a lot of detailed information about the curriculum. Because of that conversation, I decided to apply.
The program is everything Dr. Prime said it would be; for example, she said I would tackle hands-on projects. In one assignment, my classmates and I developed a pro forma template to assess which country would be the best option for a business looking to expand. By determining what variables would affect the company’s success, we constructed an index score on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the country with the highest likely favorable outcome.
I’m most excited about our upcoming final project, though. My cohort will split into teams and put together a market entry strategy for a real startup in London or Berlin. Everything we have learned, from cultural background assessments to financial experiments and from marketing plans to business development, will culminate in this exercise. Plus, one student from each team will be chosen to travel to each company to present our findings! "

"At Road to Robinson, I confirmed the Master of International Business course format would work with my busy schedule; classes take place only two evenings a week. I also verified the possibility of holding a graduate research assistantship (GRA). I ended up landing a GRA position, which not only covers part of my tuition but also provides a monthly stipend.
I earned an undergraduate minor in international business at Robinson as well. At the Road to Robinson event, I found out some of my favorite professors also teach in the master’s program. Knowing I would re-encounter instructors who are passionate about the subject matter and employ an effective teaching style hugely impacted my decision to enroll."

"I met April Williams at Road to Robinson. April ended up being a huge help when I applied to the Flexible MBA program. She quickly answered my emails, kept me posted on where I stood in the process, and made sure I submitted all the required application materials. She also informed me I was eligible for a GMAT waiver—an enormous plus I wasn’t aware of prior to attending Road to Robinson. Since I didn’t have to take the GMAT exam, I could start my graduate studies at Robinson a semester earlier than at other schools I was considering.
April also told me I can customize my MBA by pursuing a concentration that will refine my skill set. Since I have a background in engineering and aspire to become a manager at an aerospace firm in my home country of Morocco, I likely will choose a concentration in analytics consulting."
