Candidates do not need to meet the test alternative criteria below to be considered for summer or fall 2021.
We offer flexibility in the way you help us understand your strength as an applicant. Alternatives to submitting a GMAT or GRE score as part of your application are available. Learn more about your options »

Test Score Alternatives
There are many ways you can demonstrate your readiness for graduate study. For that reason, we offer flexibility in the way you help us understand your strength as an applicant. For the Robinson MBA program, the following alternatives to submitting a GMAT or GRE test score are available.
- You already have earned an advanced degree (master’s, specialist or doctorate).
- You already have at least 5 years of full-time professional experience that includes for some time the responsibility of managing others or managing a budget, or experience in information technology or data analysis.
- You have at least a 3.25 undergraduate GPA from an accredited college or university and at least 3 years of full-time professional experience.
If one or more of the above describes you, you can ask that your candidacy be evaluated on the basis of these criteria rather than on the basis of a standardized test score. We reserve the right to allow test alternatives until we meet our allotment target of applications.
If you choose to pursue one of these alternatives, we will evaluate your application first on the basis of the alternative criteria and, if a GMAT or GRE score is necessary for us to fully assess your candidacy for admission, we will request one from you later.
Please note – if you request your application be evaluated on the basis of one of these alternative criteria and you still choose to submit a GMAT or GRE test score, that score becomes part of the portfolio used to consider your candidacy.
To request an evaluation on the basis of one of the alternative standardized test score criteria, please submit an otherwise complete application and pay the $50 nonrefundable application fee. Then email Richard James at firstname.lastname@example.org expressing that you would like to be considered for a decision with a standardized test score alternative. For your request to be considered, your application must be otherwise complete and your email must clearly state for which alternative criteria you would like to be considered.
Unofficial transcripts may be submitted at the time of application.
One official copy of the transcript of all college work is required from each previously attended institution if you are subsequently offered admission.
Each transcript must be closed with the institution's official seal across the flap. If an institution's policies do not permit sending official transcripts to applicants for use with self-managed applications, the transcripts may be sent directly to the Office of Admissions – Graduate Programs at the below address.
The eSCRIP-SAFE System
Electronic transcripts from eSCRIP-SAFE are acceptable if your institution is listed as a “sender” (not receiver) of transcripts. “Sender” must be selected for the member type. If a school does not utilize eSCRIP, we will accept official transcripts electronically as long as they are sent by the institution directly to our email address:

The personal statement provides an opportunity for applicants to present themselves to the Master’s Admissions Committee and to highlight qualities relevant to success in a graduate business program that may not be evident in test scores and past academic performance.
In a single essay, no more than 750 words in length, please explain why the Robinson College of Business, and the particular program to which you are applying, is best for helping you achieve your short-term and long-term career goals. You should also address reasons why you believe you would be good fit for the Robinson College of Business and the program to which you are applying.
All applicants must submit an updated résumé. No work experience is required.
If you have additional information or feel there are extenuating circumstances which you would like to share with the Admissions Committee (i.e. academic performance issues or areas of weakness in the application). Please limit your response to 250 words.
Letters of Recommendation
Although it is not required, you are welcome to submit a letter of recommendation. Recommendation letters may be submitted through the online application process or in sealed envelopes from the recommender; recommenders must sign their names across the sealed portion of the back of the envelope.
A personal interview is required of all MBA applicants. Once the MBA application has been submitted, it will be reviewed by the admissions committee. If an applicant is selected for a personal interview, a representative from the MBA office will contact him or her to set up a date and time. Only virtual interviews are being conducted at this time.
