Miglena Sandmeier

Miglena Sandmeier holds a Master of Arts in Communications from Georgia State University and a Master of Science in International Economics from the University of Varna, Bulgaria. She comes with over a decade of teaching experience in the field of communication. She has taught Public Speaking, Public Relations Strategies and Writing, Foundations of Media Research, Media Culture and Society and Human Communication in the Communication department of the College of Arts and Sciences. Sandmeier is an award-winning journalist holding two Peabody and one DuPont awards for excellence in journalism for her work in various roles at CNN International and HLN. As a producer for CNN International, Sandmeier has overseen media coverage of events such as the United Nations General Assembly, The Academy Awards and daily breaking news. She has also managed media relations and corporate social responsibility initiatives for Fortune 100 companies headquartered in metro Atlanta area. As a member of the Board of the Atlanta Press Club, Sandmeier was involved in organizing regular networking events for journalists and marketing professionals. Her academic interests include cross-cultural communication and social semiotics. Sandmeier speaks English, German, Russian and Bulgarian.
