
PANTHERS IN THE DISTRICT


This unique experience positions participants to compete for internships and full-time jobs in Washington, D.C., provide area employers access to top talent from one of the most diverse student bodies in the United States, and connect students with Georgia State’s alumni in the D.C. area.
Students who are selected for the cohort complete a 6-month series of training sessions and briefings designed to help them make the strongest impression on the professionals they will encounter during their immersive business meetings, networking events and engagement opportunities, reflecting what the students will experience after graduation.
Who is eligible?
All undergraduate and graduate students with a 3.0 cumulative GPA graduating in December 2024 or later are eligible to apply.
Panthers in the District specifically seeks candidates who are juniors, seniors, or first-year master's students in the following areas of study:
accounting and taxation | business administration | business economics | CIS | data analytics | finance | managerial sciences | marketing | risk management | public policy and public administration | criminal justice | economics | social work | urban studies
Students may apply to multiple Panthers Immersion Programs. Panel discussions and workshops will be held in January and February to help participants learn more and advance their career discernment. We expect to select 14 cohort members through a competitive application and selection process for each program.

Meet the 2023 Panthers in the District Cohort

Adun’s diverse work experience spans academic medical centers, private practices, and community outreach. Her commitment to excellence and innovation in healthcare is evident as she delivered preventive care, collaborated with local institutions, and sought operational ways to scale the industry.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Adun finds balance through yoga and cherishing moments with loved ones.

Adunola Adeleye

She is currently an MBA student, with a concentration in Business Analytics and International Business at the Robinson College of Business. She is a seasoned student leader, a student ambassador, a pacesetter, and a DEI champion. Dorcas considers herself ‘that go-to person With a progressive 5 years + of experience working for top public institutions like Georgia State University, International organizations like the United Nations, non-profit organizations, and Information technology companies. She excelled in these organizations as an associate consultant, marketing and business development associate, project coordinator, programs strategist, and Graduate Research Assistant.
She is passionate about proffering solutions to complex business problems through predictive, prescriptive, and descriptive analysis in the consulting and advisory sector while ensuring that businesses make the right decisions, achieve exponential profitability, and thrive in the everchanging global business ecosystem.

Before pursuing her master’s degree, Pakham worked as a project coordinator and international liaison for six years to foster social inclusion for people with disabilities through sports promotion.
After a successful career helping governmental and non-governmental organizations, Pakham now has centered her efforts on amplifying the voices of vulnerable communities through collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, NGOs, governmental agencies, and international organizations. Pakham determines to contribute to the fields of social inclusion, poverty eradication, and sustainable development.

Before returning to university, Brett spent three years as an internet manager and business development executive at two different companies in the south Atlanta area. After a successful career helping these companies reach their revenue goals, Brett returned to university to
complete his bachelors in business administration and prepare for law school.

He has achieved academic excellence, maintaining a strong cumulative GPA of 3.3. He has been recognized as a scholar, receiving prestigious awards such as the 2022 Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar and the 2022 ALPFA Scholar sponsored by PwC.
Carlos actively volunteers with Lambda Theta Phi, his fraternity, and seeks out conferences and summits to enhance his knowledge and skills. He is passionate about accounting and aspires to obtain the CPA designation. Carlos is enthusiastic about networking and connecting with professionals in the field.

Taylor Heaney
She has assisted with several political campaigns conducting outreach and facilitating data management. Most recently she completed a one-year intern
residency with the office of Senator Jon Ossoff as part of the outreach and communications teams. Taylor continues to pursue opportunities in these areas and is currently developing a research project on the effectiveness of outreach programs in policy making.
Taylor prides herself on being non-traditional student. She enjoys spending time with her husband Chris and raising their son Harrison while furthering her academic goals.

Marina Margoosian

Prior to venturing into the world of financial technology, Tajwar spent years providing premier customer service through both healthcare and retail departments. He currently is employed as an employee under the CS Staff at Publix, and is establishing a foot into the business world as a potential real estate agent. Communication with others is the largest strength one can have, one that Tajwar looks to amplify in the world of Fin-tech and Business through consumer consultation and advisory.
Tajwar enjoys staying active, whether it involves hikes and enjoying the nature around him, or whether it is practicing martial arts in the gym.

Monica works with executive staff to fund the organization’s programmatic work, community services, and operations; and is currently helping Park Pride complete a $12.8 million comprehensive campaign. As an MBA student, Monica plans to merge her business degree,vnonprofit experience, and undergraduate degree in Rhetoric and Composition to assist organization’s in making a meaningful social impact, and to communicate that impact to a
myriad of audiences in an effective way.

Monica Johnson

Currently pursuing a Master of Public Policy degree at Georgia State University, Kaddijatou is working to specialize in health policy. Her goal is to utilize the knowledge she acquires to bring about tangible policy changes that will benefit individuals living with sickle cell disease.
Alongside her studies, she works as a graduate research assistant at the Department of public management and Policy at the Andrew Young School of policy studies. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from The University of the Gambia.

Kaddijatou Keita

survivors when she has more time she volunteers with Georgia State University (GSU) Career Fairs, PAWS for a cause, or runs The Bank of America Chicago Marathon for a non-profit.
Currently, she works with Real Estate Lending and as an Agent Consultant. Her biggest passion is the fusion of Mental Health and Technology with public policies and balance with protective regulations so that companies may produce quality products and citizens will feel more productive and fulfilled in their own lives. Fatimah's goal as a Panther in the District is to push for an impactful call to action on Mental Health and more
awareness of situations and how to tackle problems that cause instability in families and individual people’s lives. Her website tplsglobal.com will be launching in the Fall of 2023. She challenges everyone reading this to find out what is going on in their local communities and to research current bills on Mental Health in their state. Fatimah Mustafaa

Currently, Peris is concurrently pursuing her Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University and Master of Public Administration from Kennesaw State University. She is also serving in student organizations in each institution as the President of the Public Administration Student Association at KSU and VP of Events for the Graduate Business Association at GSU.
Before starting graduate school, Peris spent over six years in an accounting firm where she started as a receptionist and transitioned to an office administrator. Over the years, she gained dependable problemsolving and customer service skills. After a successful career as an office administrator, Peris is now pivoting into the world of data as an analyst.
Peris enjoys swimming, running, and listening to music. She loves being outdoors except for pollen season.

Peris Mwangi

Omotola's passion for an educated community inspired her to start an NGO for the Almajiri, with over 10 million children currently out of school. With over 10 years of experience volunteering with organizations such as ONE, ENACTUS, PMHub, SFL, and many others, Omotola loves to volunteer. Additionally, her leadership, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills have been honed through volunteering, professional work, and her NGO in Nigeria.
She envisions a career as a global policy maker, where she can hold analytical and leadership positions in diverse governmental, public service, private sector, consulting, and nonprofit organizations. Omotola firmly believes that she has much to contribute to the world at large.

Before his current pursuits, Abdul worked at Goodwill of North Georgia, contributing to the organization's mission of putting people to work. His dedication and efforts enhanced the impact of Goodwill's initiatives, showcasing his commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others, both professionally and beyond.

Abdulhakeem Olaoluwa

Passionate about helping others achieve their financial goals, she wishes to pursue a career in tax law. She is interested in working abroad and hopes to use her skill sets in a globally-focused accounting or law firm. She is currently an incoming Audit Intern at Frazier and Deeter in their
London office, where she will be assisting the auditing team with client accounts based in the UK. After graduating in May 2025, Bella plans to pursue a JD/MAcc and CPA licensure and work as a tax attorney.

Before starting as Program Director, Kaleb spent the last two years as a Social Work Intern for a local non-profit and as a Graduate Assistant at GSU. After a successful career helping LGBTQIA+ high school and undergraduate students, Kaleb now aids them in finding employment that is inclusive and welcoming.
Kaleb enjoys playing in various softball leagues (even if he is put into the outfield) and camping with his partner.
