PANTHERS IN THE DISTRICT
This unique experience positions participants to compete for internships and full-time jobs in Washington, D.C., provide area employers access to top talent from one of the most diverse student bodies in the United States, and connect students with Georgia State’s alumni in the D.C. area.
Students who are selected for the cohort complete a 6-month series of training sessions and briefings designed to help them make the strongest impression on the professionals they will encounter during their immersive business meetings, networking events and engagement opportunities, reflecting what the students will experience after graduation.
Who is eligible?
All undergraduate and graduate students with a 3.0 cumulative GPA graduating in December 2025 or later are eligible to apply.

Panthers in the District specifically seeks candidates who are juniors, seniors, or first-year master's students in the following areas of study:

Students may apply to multiple Panthers Immersion Programs. Panel discussions and workshops will be held in January and February to help participants learn more and advance their career discernment. We expect to select 14 cohort members through a competitive application and selection process for each program.

Meet the 2024 Panthers in the District Cohort
Aderinsola Osinowo
She is also obtaining a Quality Assurance in the Life Sciences certificate. She is interning at Pfizer as a Breakthrough Fellow during the Summer of 2024, working in their Global Supply department and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing in New York City.
Before delving into the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, Ade gained experience through various leadership roles on multiple executive boards. Ade is passionate about the sciences and will continue contributing as the Creative Head for the Undergraduate STEM Research Society in her senior year.
As a mentee and fellow in MLT Career Prep, INROADS, and the McClinton Scholars program, Ade has experienced firsthand the transformative power of mentorship. She is committed to paying it forward by connecting students with career professionals to help them achieve their ambitions. Ade's ultimate goal is to establish her own mentorship program to support students in their career journeys.

Aidan Rickaby
Before grad school, Aidan earned a B.S. in Political Science with a Data Analytics in Public Policy certificate from UGA’s School of Public and International Affairs. Throughout his four undergraduate years, Aidan worked as a research assistant with a professor, lead swim coach at a local youth
swim club, field and finance intern for a major Congressional campaign, and bus operator for the UGA transit system. His work in the community informs his research to create an equitable and sustainable economy.
Aidan is a hobby runner (finishing his first-ever marathon in March 2024) and a long-time swimmer of 18 years. On a typical weekend he enjoys hiking, watching movies with friends, exploring new restaurants around Atlanta, and volunteering in his community.

Anita Mathew
Beyond her academic life, Anita currently works as a Building Operations Student Assistant at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business. This role allows her to collaborate with like-minded peers and uphold a commitment to excellence.
In her free time, she excels in the kitchen, baking a variety of stunning desserts with hopes of soon starting a side business selling these desserts. Through her experience as a baker, Anita has learned the importance of time management and multitasking
with a strict deadline while in a stressful environment and prioritizing attention to detail. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
Looking beyond, Anita plans to work in D.C. where she can use her CIS, Cybersecurity, and Data Analysis background to develop innovative solutions that protect and ensure data integrity.

She is a first-generation student with a huge desire to learn and develop skills used within the four years at Georgia State.
She is in a few clubs and maintains working and pursuing her education simultaneously. She has a lot of passion towards social justice and awareness, including but not limited to: mental health awareness, comfort and acceptance pertaining to sexuality, social justice and raising recognition for the incapacities that others face. This lifetime is sometimes too short and we must not take it for granted, you can accomplish anything when you believe in yourself and maintain a positive outlook.
She has worked as a Team Member in the service industry since beginning University, and has learned the importance of time management, communication, as well as extensive organizational skills. Brea hopes to further her knowledge of our own governmental system and how things operate on a more detailed level.
She wants to pursue a career as a Paralegal after graduating and hopes this experience will help prepare for a possible career in government law.
She is currently seeking a legal assistant position to practice more intensive research and responsibilities.

Before entering her senior year, Cherry spent the summer as a marketing intern with UKG on their Human Insights team. Through this experience, she was able to contribute to different thought leadership pieces and presentations, as well as broaden her knowledge about human capital management and best practices for a workplace. Cherry also sits on the board for Panther Consulting Group, a nonprofit, student-led consulting group that aims to bring value to the Atlanta business community. She serves as their Director of Marketing. Cherry is also a member of Management Leadership for Tomorrow, or MLT, which has given her the opportunity to network with leaders from companies like Deloitte, TikTok, and Goldman Sachs.

Davis Chun
With a passion for leading and helping others, he wishes to pursue a career in the project management space. He is currently a Special Projects Intern at RaceTrac, where he is assisting big projects surrounding RaceTrac’s electric vehicle charger and FinTech fleet card implementation initiative.
Outside of school and work, Davis loves being involved in his community. He is currently transitioning as the main point of contact regarding finances at Haven Minisity in Johns Creek.

She has received multiple awards and scholarships to include the highly coveted Wholesale and Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA) Scholarship and Summer Legacy Internship Award. She becomes one of twenty seven carefully selected students nationwide to take part in an intensive nine week Excess and Surplus insurance lines broker and carrier training .
Jasmin’s drive to pursue a more in-depth understanding of regulatory impact on insurance markets enticed her to apply to the Panthers in the District immersion program. With this ambitious accomplishment, she looks forward to maximizing her opportunities to further research the intersectionality between political, risk, and social science.

Prior to this, Joe has completed his Associates in Networking and Business Administration from Devry University’s online program and took a semester to study abroad in Costa Rica with the Verto Education program before entering Georgia State.
As of now, he has been involved with several on-campus student business groups like FIN (Financial Investment Network) and Fintech and student organizations like the Association for Information Systems at GSU as well as the Catholic Students Association of GSU, all of which has opened doors to well-meaning opportunities and connections with many optimistic, career-driven peers.
In his leisure time, Joe enjoys venturing the outdoors on hikes and city travels if not spending time with his family.

With five years of experience as a Housing Manager and Housing Navigator, Julianna has a proven track record in developing effective housing strategies for non-profits and facilitating clients' access to housing opportunities.
In her current role, she drives transformational change by fostering equitable and effective community engagement at an organizational level.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Opeyemi commits to serving her community through advocacy in areas of education, gender, and racial justice. With this in mind, she interned with the African Gender Tracker and Research Center to analyze data on gender inequality in Africa. She also owns her non-profit that works towards eradicating problems and policies that increase inequity and inequality in the educational sector. Her goal is to create an educational institution that not only invests in the academic prosperity of each student, but also builds a curriculum that meets each student where they’re at and imbues their talents.
Ultimately, she envisions a career as a lawyer, where she can work to represent underserved communities and advocate for racial justice, international human rights, and more. Opeyemi firmly believes in her capacity to effect change in the world and she plans to continue this through this program.

At UPS, Peace supports the Equity and Economic Empowerment strategic pillar, emphasizing women's economic empowerment, youth development, and entrepreneurship programs in 5 continents. He collaborates with partners, offers strategic advice, and guides program implementation and evaluation.
A seasoned development expert and consultant, outside of UPS, Peace has founded two companies, authored two books, launched online courses, and consulted for over 25 companies.
He has organized 15+ seminars, spoken at 40+ conferences, and trained 7,000+ professionals across six sectors, including collaborating with state governments on policy and training programs.

Before starting her master’s, Sarah worked as a credit analyst for one year and as budget manager for one year. After a successful career helping banks and universities managerial accounting, Sarah engages now in analyzing and contrasting economic public policies from African countries and occidental countries to propose improving and innovative recommendations.

The issues Shoshanah hopes to tackle are food insecurity and increased access to post-secondary educational opportunities for all. Currently, she is interning for two organizations. The first is as a student transition intern for Achieve Atlanta, a scholarship program for Atlanta Public School seniors. The second is as a social work intern at the GSU Panther Pantry, which provides necessary resources to food-insecure members of the student body. Additionally, she is also the graduate assistant for GSU’s chapter of College Advising Corps, an organization that aims to increase college enrollment amongst graduating high school seniors.
